+What Are House Churches?
Vineyard Central is a collection of house churches. We’ve felt for a long time that the vibrancy of church life is directly tied to your connections with people. In other words, if you don’t really know others, church life is nothing more than another form of social isolation (and American church life already has way too much of that).
The church is supposed to be a connected body of people, not just in name but in reality. We’ve tried hard to let our actions demonstrate how we feel by structuring a church where the Small Group (our house churches) takes precedence over the Large Group (Feats & Festivals). For us the small gathering of a house church is like a family and the large gathering once a month on Sunday mornings is like a family reunion. As important and fun as real life family reunions can be, people can afford to miss them, but no one can afford to be without a family. We might say here that it’s better to think small, not big.
House Churches are where you can get to know people, ask hard questions (and maybe have new questions created), grow spiritually, serve alongside others, share meals, and express your faith (or learn for the first time about faith) face-to-face in real time with actual people. We use the terms house church, organic church, simple church, and home church interchangeably. For us “church” means small family-like units that are learning to love God and their neighbor. A list of these communities follows. Please email the contact person mentioned for more information. You’re welcome to visit several before settling into one. Remember, these little bands of disciples are far from perfect. We don’t claim to have our faith figured out, but we’re on the journey together and you’re invited along, too.

+The Leadership Community
The leadership community is made up of those who are actively leading House Churches and ministries within Vineyard Central. This group meets reguarly for worship, prayer, and training. The group meets at the convent 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and is for VC members that currently lead or co-lead a House Church or are interested in leading/starting one in the next 6-12 months.
