Reminder about the change in time and location for our gatherings

Starting this Sunday, June 12, and throughout the season of Pentecost, we will be meeting in the “upper room” studio at the back of St. E’s, and we will be meeting at 10am. These changes are in keeping with what many of you indicated as you as your preferences on the two polls sent out a couple weeks ago. Hope to see you Sunday!

I thought it might be good to give people the opportunity to help set up and decorate the sanctuary for Sunday since there may several who would enjoy that — we will be setting up the sanctuary on Saturday the 23rd starting at 2pm. PLACE ::
The back of St. E’s, where we celebrated Advent

BREAKFAST ::
9-10 a.m. Bagels and coffee provided. You bring the rest: fruits, cheeses, etc.

WORSHIP ::
• singing
• liturgy & response
• teaching (Matt Dawson & Dave Nixon
• communion

Following our time together there won’t be a potluck lunch. (Put that excess cooking energy into breakfast.) Practice hospitality afterward by inviting someone into your home.

VC Festival this Sunday (Nov. 7)

First of all, remember to set your clocks back 1 hour this Saturday night! Wouldn’t want you to find an empty house when you arrive.

Breakfast (9:00-10:00)
Light breakfast of bagels and coffee, but you supply the fruit, cheese, juice or some other breakfast food.

Worship (10:00-11:15)
We’ll sing “in-the-round,” reflect on scripture, have conversational team teaching led by Joshua Hanauer (+ guest) followed by communion and offering.

Lunch
This, of course, stands or falls on participation. We value living as a community, and to be a part of a community means participation. Let’s lean into it. Bring something for yourself (or family) and a little extra for someone else. If we all offer a sacrifice of love, then there will be a lot of love expressed in what we eat together. (Invite a neighbor!)

Baby Nick Has Arrived! (Meal Request)

Emilie Ogle and her family are happy to announce the arrival of Nicholas William Shefer, who was born this past Wednesday, July 21 around 10:00 AM – eight pounds, two ounces. Emily and the baby are now home from the hospital and are doing well.

If you would like to bless the family by preparing them a meal - or in some other way – please contact Becky Novotni at: rebeccabliss@yahoo.com. Meals are specifically needed on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the second half of August and beyond. Thank you so much for your support!

National Night Out: August 3, Community Center

Encouraging any and all children to attend. The kids will get to meet police/fire personnel, view equipment, food/drinks, games, and activities.

Cincinnati Zoo Presentation (with animals) @ 6pm
Bike Rodeo (to teach kids bike safety — each child will get a free helmet to keep. bring your own bike.)

This coming Sunday we’ll be meeting for our monthly gathering. Being the 4th of July, we’re calling it the Festival of Peace and focusing on the ways the Kingdom of God subverts the kingdoms (and even democracies) of the earth. Pray and Play Returns!

Pray and Play returns for a second round on June 22 at 11:30 am. Following that, we will meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (So July 13 and 27) .

Bring a packed lunch and join us for some stories and prayers, appropriate for the 0-5 crowd and their caregivers. We will meet in the St. Elizabeth’s Children’s room (entrance off Lincoln). Questions: Mary Ellen Mitchell.

Gathering: May 2

Please join us this Sunday, May 2 at 10 am for our monthly VC worship gathering. We’ll sing, hear Scripture and teaching, and fellowship as a body. Once again, childcare will be provided for kids up to age 8, with a potluck immediately afterward.

Reminder: YMCA discounts – Need to Fill 6 Slots Immediately!

Original Post Here. To get these discounted slots, we had to pay the YMCA for all of them upfront, and we have to resell all of the slots to our members just to break even. Please consider taking advantage of this discount!

The local Norwood YMCA has been offering discounted memberships to 30 VC members for several years. There are still at least 6 openings left for 2010. The cost is $150 per person for the year. This is only $12.50 per month. (As opposed to the usual $56/ month plus $125 joining fee).
Membership includes:

Gym with elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, nautilus and free weights.
Access to indoor pool, outdoor pool, racquetball courts, basketball court, and sauna.
Free classes including yoga, aerobics, weight training, spinning, Pilates, water aerobics, group swimming lessons etc),
Free childcare for children 6 weeks to 8 y/o for 90 minutes at a time.
Discounted classes like gymnastics, karate & private swim lessons’

Payment can be made in full right away (the sooner the better since it’s already March April) or in two payments of $75.

Women’s Retreat (Reminder)
