Songs to Sing in a Cathedral at Advent

StE.jpg:
Songs for Advent 2005

St. Elizabeth’s cathedral has been sitting cold and crypt-like for 2 years or so.  It seems ironic that we are waking her up after all this time at Advent …bringing light and warmth into her darkness after all this time with beautiful lights, smells, and the sounds of friends reuniting, laughter and lots of music and songs.

This is a collection of the songs to bring in the Advent season.  We’ll sing them at the four advent services  before Christmas, weaving in other familiar carols as well.  Hopefully, these songs will not be just for singing, but for Entering In.

Original Poem:
The Night Will Never Stay
The night will never stay,
The night will still go by,
Though with a million stars
You pin it to the sky
Though you bind it with the blowing wind
And buckle it with the moon,
The night will slip away
Like sorrow or a tune.
